Great question — and a really common one! Here's the short answer: print limits exist to protect publisher copyright, which is part of what allows BibliU to offer your textbooks at a reduced cost in the first place.
Why Print Limits Exist
When you print pages from BibliU, it saves them as a PDF. Without a limit, it would be possible to save an entire book as a PDF and share it — which would undermine the copyright agreements BibliU has with publishers. Those agreements are what make affordable access programs like BibliU Access possible, so print limits are a key part of keeping textbook costs down for students everywhere.
We know it's not always ideal, and BibliU is always working with publishers to make the experience as flexible as possible within those boundaries!
What Are the Limits?
Print limits vary by title and publisher. You can usually see how many pages you have remaining directly in the BibliU reader when you go to print.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Allowance
- Use the Save to PDF feature thoughtfully — prioritise the pages you know you'll need for studying or reference
- Use BibliU's built-in highlighting, annotations, and bookmarking features as alternatives to printing — everything syncs across your devices so your notes are always with you
- Try offline mode to access your book without an internet connection, so you don't need a printed copy as a backup
