Why This Is Important
The BibliU Access program simply lifts the paywall, making it easier and more affordable for students to access their courseware materials. It is still critical for you as an instructor to confirm that the publisher link is provided for the courseware in the Learning Management System (LMS) and that the courseware is set up within the publisher platform.
How courseware is added to your course (choose one)
Embedded LTI Courseware
Some courseware is already embedded directly in your course via an LTI integration. Students click to access the material (typically without needing an access code). You will still need to set up assignments within the courseware platform.
Manually Linked Courseware
Some courseware is not embedded automatically and requires you to add the link directly to your course. If you do not add this link, students will be unable to access the material. Once the link is in place, students click to access it and may need an access code found on their BibliU Library course card. You will still need to set up assignments within the courseware platform.
Quick courseware checklist for faculty
- Is the courseware already embedded in the LMS course?
- If yes, you're all set. Students can access it directly.
- If no, you must add the manual link to your course.
How students access courseware
Some courseware requires students to enter an access code on first access; if so, they can find it on the "Courseware" course card in their BibliU Library. Many tools require no code at all. Either way, BibliU has removed the paywall through the access program, so students will not be asked to pay through the publisher's site.
