Who should read this document?
Preferably a curriculum director, technology coordinator or the university’s programmer, who is able to:
- maintain or access course rosters
- access and upload student information
- download institution programmes, and set up data integrations (i.e. SFTP integration)
Although this support article assumes that you have already began working on creating .csv files that contain student enrollment and staff course access data, you can still follow the instructions with a test .csv file for now.
Please refer to the SFTP integration documents sent to you for more details on how the real .csv files should be formatted.
Steps
- Set up the SFTP connection with BibliU
- Upload the .csv files to the BibliU database
- Automate the upload of the .csv files to the BibliU database
Step 1: Setting up an SFTP connection with BibliU
What you’ll need before you start:
-
An SFTP client - this is a piece of software that allows your system to connect to the SFTP server.
- A common choice is Cyberduck which works on both Windows and Mac OSX. It can be downloaded here: https://cyberduck.io/download/

-
SFTP Login Details - BibliU will send you a unique username and password via an encrypted link.
-
BibliU’s SFTP details
- Protocol: SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)
- Server Address: sftp://files.bibliu.com
- Port: 22
Configuring the SFTP
This support article uses Cyber Duck on MacOS for the purposes of explaining how to set up an SFTP connection.
The steps will be broadly the same for a different operating system or a different SFTP Client such as WinSCP.
- Open Cyber Duck and click on the Open Connection button
- Use the drop down to set the connection type to "SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)"
-
Fill in the "Server" address as sftp://files.bibliu.com
-
Check the Port number is 22
-
Enter the username and password sent to you by BibliU
- Click Connect
- You will be presented with a file browser of your folder on the BibliU SFTP server
Step 2: Uploading your .csv file
Once your .csv spreadsheet is complete and formatted correctly, follow the steps below to import your .csv file into your SFTP feed.
If you have not yet completed those files, you can still test the connection by sending a test .csv file with Hello World written in the file.
- Either drag and drop files into the file browser window to upload or click on File > Upload to select and upload your files.
- The data will then be uploaded into our BibliU SFTP folder
If the file upload was successful you should see it in the Cyberduck client and we will also be able to see it in the SFTP folder.
Step 3: Automate File Transfer
It is best practice that you send your enrollment and course .csv file once every 24 hours to BibliU’s SFTP server.
This ensures we have the most up-to-date information for remittance and access purposes.
We’ve put together another support article on how to set up an automated script using WinSCP as an example.
